🎯 Verdict

The facelifted Volvo XC40 (2022+) is an extremely appealing, safe, and comfortable compact SUV. The abandonment of diesel and 100% thermal engines has refocused the range on very smooth mild-hybrid gasoline powertrains (B3/B4), although they are thirsty on the highway due to the vehicle's significant weight. While the mechanics are generally very reliable (proven VEA architecture), this generation has suffered from early issues related to its digital transition (Android Automotive and TCAM module). A 2023 or 2024 model, benefiting from software fixes, is an excellent purchase. PHEV versions should be negotiated with caution on the used market (technical complexity), while the B3/B4 represent the most rational choice for versatile drivers.
