The Volvo XC40 (Generation I, XZ) is a premium compact crossover SUV and the first Volvo based on the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform, co-developed with Geely. The Volvo XC40 is an outstanding premium compact SUV. If you are looking for long-term reliability, the traditional petrol engines (T3, T4, T5) are the absolute sweet spot of the range. They avoid the complex software and hardware issues (like the TCAM module) that plague the EV and PHEV variants, and they do not suffer from the emissions-equipment clogging found in the diesels. While the infotainment system can be slightly laggy and fuel economy on the 2.0L petrols isn't class-leading, the XC40's superb safety, comfort, and build quality make it a highly recommended purchase. Buy a T4 or a late T3 with full service history for the best ownership experience.
