Volvo S60 III (Z252) (2018 – 2025)

Reliability score : 8.2/10

The third-generation Volvo S60 (Z252) marked a significant turning point for the Swedish brand. 🎯 Verdict

The Volvo S60 Gen III is a highly compelling premium sedan that shines in comfort, safety, and design. If you are targeting a hybrid, the year of manufacture is critical. Models from 2019 to 2021 (T8 Twin Engine) feature a highly complex powertrain (turbo + supercharger + electric) and are prone to expensive ERAD failures; they should be approached with caution and a solid warranty. However, the 2022+ Extended Range PHEVs (Recharge) are a massive leap forward: they dropped the supercharger, increased battery size, and offer exceptional power and reliability. The main caveat for newer models is the buggy Android Automotive software and the fragile TCAM module. Buy a 2022+ PHEV with confidence, but thoroughly test the infotainment and connectivity before signing.
