🎯 Verdict

The Volkswagen ID.4 is a tale of two cars. If you are looking at a 2020-2023 model, you must approach with caution: verify that all software updates (v3.2 minimum) and hardware recalls (12V battery, door handles) have been completed. Even then, you will have to live with a sluggish infotainment system and unlit sliders. However, if you can negotiate a strong discount, it remains a highly practical and comfortable family cruiser. Conversely, the 2024+ models equipped with the AP550 motor and v4.0 software are excellent electric vehicles. Volkswagen fixed almost every major complaint, making the newer ID.4 a highly recommended purchase in the electric SUV segment.
