Reliability score : 7.4/10

The Volkswagen ID.3 (Generation I, E11) marks a historic turning point for the brand, introduced as the spiritual electric successor to the Golf and the pioneer of the MEB (Modular Electric Drive) platform. 🎯 Verdict

The Volkswagen ID.3 is a tale of two cars. If you are looking at a 2020 or 2021 model, proceed with extreme caution: ensure all factory recalls (especially the 12V battery and HV module checks) have been performed and that the software has been updated to at least version 3.2. If these conditions are met, early models represent excellent value for money on the used market. However, the sweet spot is the 2023+ facelift model. It resolves the cheap interior plastics, features stable software out of the box, and remains a highly practical, comfortable, and mechanically robust daily EV. Avoid early 77 kWh models without a battery health certificate.
