Reliability score : 8.8/10

The third-generation Toyota Tacoma (N300) is the undisputed leader of the midsize pickup segment in North America. 🎯 Verdict

The third-generation Toyota Tacoma fully deserves its reputation as an indestructible vehicle. Data from ADAC and J.D. Power confirm that it dominates its segment in terms of long-term reliability. The 3.5L V6 engine (2GR-FKS) is a technical success, combining robustness and technology (D-4S) to avoid the carbon buildup problems typical of direct injection engines. However, the 2016 and 2017 model years experienced some teething problems (crankshaft sensor, differential leaks, erratic automatic gearbox management). If you are targeting these years, ensure that all recalls and software updates have been performed. Models from 2018 onwards are excellent, and those from 2020 onwards (facelift) are the most desirable thanks to comfort improvements (power seat, connectivity). It is a highly recommended purchase, provided you accept its peculiar driving position and high fuel consumption.
