Toyota Land Cruiser 300 (J300) (2021 – Présent)

Reliability score : 8.6/10

The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series (J300) marks a historic turning point for the legendary lineage of the Japanese manufacturer. Replacing the venerable J200 after a 14-year career, the J300 is based on the new TNGA-F architecture (modernized ladder frame). This evolution allows it to shed approximately 200 kg while increasing its rigidity by 20%. The most controversial but necessary change was the abandonment of V8 engines in favor of more efficient V6 biturbo engines (petrol and diesel), coupled with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Although it is not marketed in Western Europe or North America (which receive the Land Cruiser 250/Prado and the Lexus LX respectively), the J300 remains the undisputed king in the Middle East, Australia, and Africa. It retains exceptional off-road capabilities

🎯 Verdict

The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 achieves the feat of modernizing an icon without betraying its DNA. The transition to the TNGA-F platform and V6 biturbo engines transforms its road handling while preserving its off-road capabilities. However, Toyota's legendary reliability has been slightly tarnished by the recall concerning the V35A-FTS (petrol) engine block. If you opt for this engine, ensure that the vehicle has been inspected or corrected according to the manufacturer's guidelines. The V6 Diesel (F33A-FTV) proves to be the best compromise for high-mileage drivers and adventurers, provided that DPF regeneration cycles are scrupulously respected. It is a highly recommended purchase, a true automotive investment given its almost non-existent depreciation.
