Toyota HiAce H100 (5e gen) (1989 – 2004)

Reliability score : 8.8/10

🎯 Verdict

The Toyota HiAce H100 is the archetype of the indestructible commercial vehicle. If you are looking for a vehicle for rough use, without worrying about comfort or modern gadgets, it is an excellent choice. Absolutely prioritize naturally aspirated diesels (2.8D 3L or 3.0D 5L) if you have access to these engines (often imported or outside Europe); in Europe, the 2.4D (2L) will do the job despite its slowness. The Turbo-Diesel versions (2L-T and 1KZ-TE) offer much better driving pleasure but require an impeccable cooling history, otherwise, you risk hefty bills (cylinder head). The real enemy of this model is not mileage, but rust. A body-sound example with 400,000 km is a much better buy than a rusty model with 150,000 km.
