The Toyota Corolla Verso II (AR10) is a compact MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) designed primarily for the European market at Toyota's ED2 studio in France and built in Turkey. Built on the MC platform, it stands out for its excellent 'Easy Flat' seating system, allowing the two rear rows (in 7-seat versions) to fold completely flat into the floor. While it lacks the dynamic handling of a Ford C-Max, it compensates with outstanding practicality, a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, and legendary reliability—provided you choose the right powertrain. A minor facelift was introduced in 2007, featuring a redesigned front bumper, updated taillights, and improved infotainment options. Overall Note: An exceptionally rational family car, highly sought after in the used market when equipped with a petrol
The Toyota Corolla Verso II is a tale of two extremes. If you buy a 1.6 or 1.8 VVT-i petrol with a manual transmission, you are getting one of the most reliable, practical, and indestructible compact MPVs ever made. It will easily surpass 300,000 km with basic maintenance. However, if you opt for the 1.8 with the MMT automated gearbox, or worse, any of the 2.2-litre diesel engines, you are exposing yourself to catastrophic repair bills. Verdict: BUY the petrol manual, AVOID the diesels and MMT.
