Reliability score : 6.8/10

The Suzuki Grand Vitara II (JT) is a unique proposition in the compact SUV segment. 🎯 Verdict

The Suzuki Grand Vitara II is a fantastic choice if you genuinely need a rugged, compact 4x4 for towing, rural living, or off-roading. However, buying the 1.9 DDiS diesel requires extreme caution. The Renault-sourced F9Q engine is plagued by DPF, EGR, and turbo issues if not maintained perfectly or if used for short city trips. If you must buy the diesel, demand a flawless service history with frequent oil changes and verify the DPF status. For most buyers, the post-2010 2.4L petrol or the older 2.0L petrol are much safer bets, provided you can stomach the higher fuel bills. Avoid the 2008-2010 2.4L models unless the engine block has already been replaced.
