Suzuki Alto VII (GF) (2009 – 2015)

Reliability score : 8.8/10

The seventh-generation Suzuki Alto (factory code GF) is an A-segment city car, manufactured in India by Maruti Suzuki (where it is marketed as the Maruti A-Star). It has a strict technical twin, the Nissan Pixo. Designed with a logic of maximum cost reduction (overall design around a single engine), it offers very basic road performance and finish. However, it shines with exceptional mechanical reliability, extremely low running costs, and excellent urban maneuverability. It benefited from a very slight facelift in late 2012 (new wheel covers, colors, and optimized VVT to reduce emissions).

🎯 Verdict

The Suzuki Alto VII (GF) is the archetype of the rational 'commuter' car. If you are looking for comfort, luxury, or road performance, look elsewhere. However, if your absolute priority is to acquire an extremely reliable urban vehicle, economical to buy and to run, this is a masterful choice. Its 3-cylinder K10B engine is a marvel of robustness that is not afraid of high mileages if basic maintenance is respected. Opt for a high trim level (GLX) with air conditioning for a minimum of daily comfort.
