Skoda Superb III (3V) (2015 – 2023)

Reliability score : 8.0/10

The third-generation Skoda Superb (Typ 3V) is based on the Volkswagen Group's modular MQB platform. A true benchmark in terms of cabin space and trunk volume, it positions itself as a formidable alternative to premium executive sedans. Facelifted in 2019 (Phase 2), it benefited from a major technological update (Matrix LED headlights, MIB3 infotainment) and the introduction of a plug-in hybrid powertrain (iV) as well as an all-road variant (Scout). Well-built and rational, it shares most of its components with the Volkswagen Passat B8, inheriting its road qualities but also its mechanical and electronic weaknesses.

🎯 Verdict

The Skoda Superb III is one of the best family and executive sedans of its generation. Its footprint/cabin space ratio is unrivaled. In terms of reliability, it is generally very robust, provided you avoid the dry-clutch DSG7 gearbox (DQ200) associated with smaller engines if it has been abused in urban driving. High-mileage drivers will prefer a 2.0 TDI 150 hp (checking that the water pump has been replaced), while the 2.0 TSI versions offer GT performance in absolute comfort. The iV hybrid version is an excellent fiscal and urban choice, provided it's charged daily.
