The second-generation Skoda Kodiaq (2024+) is based on the Volkswagen Group's MQB Evo platform. It builds on the strengths of its predecessor (giant spaciousness, 'Simply Clever' features, immense trunk) while massively modernizing its technological content and powertrains. The interior takes a leap forward with the integration of 'Smart Dials' (physical rotary controllers with digital displays) which correct the criticized all-touch ergonomics of other group models. Although electrification is at the heart of this new iteration (with an impressive PHEV offering ~100 km of range), the 2.0 TDI diesel engine remains a central and strategic offering, particularly optimized (EA288 evo with double AdBlue injection) for high-mileage drivers, large families, and trailer towing. Expert's note: As
The Skoda Kodiaq II is undoubtedly one of the most pragmatic and accomplished family SUVs on the current market. For the Diesel engine (2.0 TDI 150 or 193 hp), the verdict is a big YES. It's the sensible choice for those who drive a lot, tow, or travel with heavy loads. The EA288 evo engine has corrected the early flaws of previous TDI generations and offers an unbeatable performance/consumption ratio on the highway. If your usage is primarily urban, avoid Diesel (risk of DPF clogging) and opt for the 1.5 TSI mHEV or the excellent (but heavy) 1.5 TSI iV PHEV. Just make sure the vehicle has received all the latest software updates (MIB4) before purchase.
