Skoda Kodiaq I facelift (NS7) (2021–2024) (2021 – 2024)

Reliability score : 7.6/10

The facelifted Skoda Kodiaq I (NS7), marketed from 2021 to 2024, represents the maturity of the large Czech family SUV. This facelift brings aesthetic touches (redesigned grille, optional Matrix LED headlights), a technological update (MIB3 infotainment system), and a notable evolution of its powertrains. The most significant change concerns the sporty RS version, which abandons the controversial but heavy 2.0 BiTDI diesel in favor of the 2.0 TSI 245 hp (EA888 Gen4) petrol engine, lightening the front axle and radically altering its behavior. Although the focus is on increasingly popular petrol engines (1.5 TSI and 2.0 TSI), the Kodiaq remains a formidable diesel cruiser. It positions itself as one of the most rational and spacious 7-seater SUVs in its segment.

🎯 Verdict

The facelifted Skoda Kodiaq I is a pragmatic and extremely rational choice for families. If you opt for petrol, the 1.5 TSI 150 hp is the sensible choice, offering a good cost/performance compromise, while the 2.0 TSI (especially in RS) brings real dynamism without the flaws of the old bi-turbo diesel. However, ADAC and TÜV statistics call for vigilance: the breakdown rate is average, but the running gear (suspension, steering, rear brakes) suffers from the vehicle's weight. A model with a clear service history and revised running gear is an excellent buy. Avoid older 1.4 TSI engines if buying outside Europe or as an imported used vehicle.
