Seat Alhambra II (7N) (2010–2022) (2010 – 2022)

Reliability score : 7.0/10

The second-generation Seat Alhambra (internal code 7N) is a large family minivan launched in 2010, sharing its platform and most of its components with the Volkswagen Sharan II. It represents Seat's offering in the minivan segment, emphasizing practicality, generous interior space, and exemplary modularity (up to 7 seats, sliding doors). Aesthetically, it adopted Seat's design language of the time, with a more dynamic touch than its VW twin. A major facelift occurred in 2015, bringing minor aesthetic changes (headlights, taillights, grille) but, more importantly, significant technical updates, including the introduction of more efficient engines (transition from EA189 TDI engines to EA288, and from EA111 TSI to EA211/EA888 Gen3) and new infotainment and driver assistance technologies. 🎯 Verdict

The Seat Alhambra II is an excellent choice for large families or those needing a large cargo volume and exemplary modularity. Its reliability is generally good, especially after the 2015 facelift which brought more refined engines (EA288 for diesels, EA211/EA888 Gen3 for petrols). For family and road use, the 2.0 TDI (150 hp EA288) versions are the most recommendable. They offer an excellent compromise between consumption, torque, and reliability. The 1.4 TSI (EA211) versions are also good choices for less intensive or predominantly urban use. Purchase conditions: Prioritize a model with a clear service history, ideally from Seat or a VAG group specialist. Check that all manufacturer recalls have been performed. Pay particular attention to the condition of the dual-mass flywheel and the proper functioning of the DSG gearbox (if present), as well as the absence of engine warning lights related to the EGR or DPF, especially on diesel versions prior to 2015. TO NEGOTIATE: 2.0 TDI EA189 models (before 2015) or 1.4 TSI EA111 models (before 2012) without a clear history of timing chain or EGR valve/DPF replacement. TO AVOID: Vehicles with signs of neglected maintenance, abnormal gearbox
