The Renault Zoe Phase 2 (often referred to as ZE 50) represents a major evolution of the diamond brand's star electric city car. Although it retains the platform and general appearance of Phase 1 (released in 2012), it corrects its main flaws: the interior is transformed with much better quality materials (borrowed from the Clio V), soundproofing is improved, and above all, it integrates a new 52 kWh battery offering up to 395 km of WLTP range. The Renault Zoe Phase 2 is an excellent used electric city car, having reached full technological maturity. Its early issues (Q210/R240 motors of the first generations) are a thing of the past. It shines with its real-world range and its unbeatable 22 kW AC charger in the city. However, for a worry-free purchase, it is imperative to check two things: the presence of the DC fast charging option (Combo CCS socket) if you plan to travel outside your region, and the proper functioning of the air conditioning (vital for the battery). The 0-star Euro NCAP score should be put into perspective (the structure remains that of 2012 which had 5 stars, but it lacks modern active aids), but must be considered by buyers concerned about the latest safety standards.
