The Renault Twingo II (codename CN0) marks a radical break from the first generation. Gone is the atypical monobox profile; it adopts a classic 3-door city car silhouette and is based on the proven Clio II platform. This technical choice gives it much more rigorous road handling, better sound insulation, and significantly increased passive safety. Launched in 2007, it underwent a major facelift in late 2011 (Phase 2), inaugurating Renault's new visual identity (refined grille, large diamond logo, return of additional round headlights) under the direction of Laurens van den Acker. The Renault Twingo II is an extremely rational and safe choice on the used car market. While it lost the atypical face of its predecessor, it gained in versatility, safety, and reliability. The expert's choice: Avoid diesels (unsuited for a city car and sources of costly breakdowns) as well as the Quickshift automated manual gearbox. Opt for a 1.2 16v 75 hp manual gearbox version, ideally Phase 2 (after 2011) for a more modern look and a slightly revised finish. For enthusiasts, the Twingo RS is a fantastic little GTI whose value is starting to climb.
