Renault R5 E-Tech I (2024 – Présent)

Reliability score : 8.2/10

The Renault 5 E-Tech (Generation I) marks the highly anticipated return of an automotive icon in a 100% electric form. Based on the new AmpR Small platform (formerly CMF-B EV), it indirectly replaces the Zoe by bringing a highly attractive neo-retro design, refined dynamic handling (thanks to a multi-link rear axle, rare in this segment), and cutting-edge onboard technology (OpenR Link system with built-in Google). Launched at the end of 2024, it is positioned as a premium yet accessible versatile city car. Overall reliability score: [INSUFFICIENT DATA] - As the model is in its early stages of commercialization, there is not enough hindsight to establish long-term breakdown statistics.

🎯 Verdict

The Renault 5 E-Tech is undoubtedly Renault's most strategic launch of this decade. Its dynamic performance, design, and onboard technology are of a very high standard for the B-segment. However, as an independent expert, caution is advised when dealing with a 'first-year' model. Although the major components (wound-rotor motor, NMC battery chemistry) are derived from the Mégane E-Tech and therefore already proven reliable, the assembly of a new platform can lead to teething problems (software bugs, adjustments). Purchase is recommended for its intrinsic qualities, but early buyers should be aware that they might have to make a few trips back to the dealership for updates or minor fixes under warranty.
