The Renault Megane IV is a tale of two halves. If you look at early models (2015-2017) equipped with the 1.2 TCe engine and the buggy R-Link 2 system, it is a car to avoid. However, Renault heavily corrected the ship. Models from 2018 onwards, specifically those equipped with the excellent 1.3 TCe petrol or the bulletproof 1.5 dCi diesel, are fantastic buys. They offer great comfort, stylish looks, and strong reliability at a lower price point than a VW Golf. The 2020 facelift models are the sweet spot, offering modern tech (EasyLink) and refined interiors. Buy with confidence if you choose the right engine, but negotiate hard on pre-2018 models.
