Reliability score : 8.2/10

Renault Megane III (2008-2016) The third-generation Renault Megane marked a massive leap forward in terms of build quality and electronic reliability compared to its predecessor (Megane II). 🎯 Verdict

Final Verdict The Renault Megane III is a highly underrated used car that suffers unfairly from the poor reputation of its predecessor. If you are looking for a diesel, you are in luck: the 1.6 dCi and 2.0 dCi are phenomenal engines offering bulletproof reliability, while the 1.5 dCi is a fantastic budget-friendly option provided it hasn't been choked by city driving. For petrol buyers, stick to the older 1.6 16v, the 1.4 TCe, or the 2.0 TCe. Under absolutely no circumstances should you purchase a Megane III equipped with the 1.2 TCe (H5Ft) engine, as the risk of catastrophic engine failure is unacceptably high. Buy a well-maintained diesel Estate or Hatchback, and you will have a comfortable, reliable, and economical daily driver.
