Renault Laguna III (BT0) (2007 – 2015)

Reliability score : 8.8/10

The Renault Laguna III (internal code BT0 for hatchback, KT0 for Estate/Grandtour, DT0 for Coupe) was launched with a massive burden: repairing the disastrous reliability reputation left by the Laguna II. Under Carlos Ghosn's 'Renault Commitment 2009' quality plan, the Laguna III was engineered to rank in the top 3 of its segment for product and service quality. The result? A resounding success in terms of reliability. The Laguna III is widely considered one of the most robust mid-size cars of its generation. However, its initial bland styling and the lingering bad reputation of its predecessor severely hampered its sales. Available in Hatchback, Estate, and a stunning Coupe, it introduced the phenomenal 4Control (4-wheel steering) system, offering Porsche-like agility. Facelifts occurred

🎯 Verdict

The Renault Laguna III is the automotive equivalent of a hidden gem. Punished by the market for the sins of the Laguna II, it is actually one of the most reliable and well-built cars Renault has ever produced. If you are looking for a Petrol model: The 2.0 16v (140 hp) is the absolute sweet spot for daily driving—chain-driven, Nissan-reliable, and cheap to run (especially the E85 versions). If you want performance, the 2.0T (170/205 hp) is fantastic, and the GT version with the 4Control chassis is a genuine driver's car. The 3.5 V6 Coupe is a future classic. Buy with confidence, prioritize models with full service history, and enjoy the massive discount the used market provides.
