Renault Kangoo III (JK) (2021 – 2025)

Reliability score : 8.2/10

The third-generation Renault Kangoo (internal code name KFK for the leisure activity vehicle version / XFK for the utility vehicle) marks a spectacular move upmarket compared to the previous generation. Gone is the purely utilitarian aspect; the Kangoo III adopts the standards of the brand's passenger vehicles (CMF-C/D platform shared with the Austral and Nissan Qashqai). Positioning: It comes in a utility version (Van) with the major innovation 'Open Sesame' (removal of the right-side B-pillar for giant access) and a leisure activity vehicle version (Combospace) aimed at families. It also serves as the technical basis for the Mercedes Citan/T-Class and the Nissan Townstar. Overall design rating: Very accomplished. 🎯 Verdict

The Renault Kangoo III is an undeniable success that makes one forget the rustic origins of the leisure activity vehicle. By adopting a sedan/SUV platform, it offers first-class driving pleasure and safety. Buying Advice: The 1.3 TCe 130 hp engine (ideally with an EDC gearbox) is the top choice. It is reliable, quiet, and powerful enough to drive this heavy vehicle. The 1.5 Blue dCi diesel remains relevant for professionals or very high-mileage drivers, but requires increased vigilance regarding the AdBlue system. The E-Tech electric version is excellent for urban deliveries, but its WLTP range of 285 km (often less than 200 km on the highway) disqualifies it for long family holiday trips.
