The Renault Kangoo II (codename KW for the civilian/leisure activity vehicle version, FW for the Express utility vehicle) marks a turning point compared to the first generation. Based on the Scénic II platform, it abandons its purely utilitarian side to offer compact MPV road performance: wider tracks, better suspension comfort, and significantly increased interior space. It underwent two major facelifts (Phase 2 in 2013, Phase 3 in 2017). While diesel engines (1.5 dCi) represented the overwhelming majority of sales in Europe, petrol versions are experiencing a strong resurgence in the used market due to traffic restrictions (ZFE). However, be aware that the petrol offering is split into two eras: the very robust but thirsty naturally aspirated (1.6) engines, and the direct-injection turbo
The Renault Kangoo II is a leisure activity vehicle extremely rich in family and practical qualities. On the used market, the choice of petrol engine is crucial. We strongly recommend the 1.6 (8v or 16v) versions: although rustic and thirsty, they offer complete peace of mind and often tolerate ethanol (E85) conversions very well. In contrast, the 1.2 TCe 115 must be avoided due to its design flaws (Motorgate) which can ruin your investment. If you drive a lot, a well-maintained 1.5 dCi remains a very relevant and economical choice.
