🎯 Verdict

The Renault Kangoo I is a brilliant utility and family vehicle, but buying a diesel version today requires extreme caution. Avoid the early 1.5 dCi (2001-2005) entirely due to the fatal Delphi pump issue, unless you have proof the entire fuel system was replaced recently. The 1.9 D is a tractor-like workhorse, but only buy it if it has a Bosch injection pump. If you must have a diesel, look for a well-maintained post-2006 1.5 dCi or a 1.9 dCi. Ironically, for a vehicle famous for its diesel variants, the petrol engines (1.2 16v and 1.6 16v) are by far the most reliable choices and are highly recommended for buyers doing average mileage.
