Reliability score : 6.2/10

The Renault Espace IV (J81) is a landmark vehicle in the European MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) segment. 🎯 Verdict

The Renault Espace IV is a tale of two cars. If you buy a Phase 1 (2002-2005) with a 2.2 dCi or 3.0 dCi, you are buying a financial nightmare. However, if you purchase a Phase 2, 3, or 4 (2006-2015) equipped with the 2.0 dCi engine, you are getting one of the most comfortable, spacious, and reliable family cruisers ever made. The petrol engines (2.0T and 3.5 V6) are also excellent choices for lower annual mileages. Always prioritize a well-maintained post-2006 model and thoroughly check all electronic functions before purchase.
