Renault Clio V (2019 – 2025)

Reliability score : 8.4/10

The Renault Clio V (codename BJA) marks a gentle stylistic evolution compared to the Clio IV, but a true technical and qualitative revolution. Based on the new CMF-B modular platform, it corrects its predecessor's main flaw: the interior finish, which becomes one of the category's benchmarks (foamed materials, rigorous assembly). It also introduces the EasyLink multimedia system and, for the first time, a full hybrid powertrain (E-Tech). The mid-life restyling (phase 2) in 2023 brings a more aggressive front end (new light signature) and updates technological equipment. Overall, the Clio V is a mature, versatile, and very sound car in terms of reliability, especially with gasoline engines.

🎯 Verdict

The Renault Clio V is an excellent choice on the used and new car market, particularly with gasoline engines. Unlike its main rival (the Peugeot 208 and its fragile 1.2 PureTech), the Clio benefits from extremely reliable gasoline engines (1.0 TCe and 1.3 TCe), equipped with a robust timing chain. The most rational choice is the 1.0 TCe 90/100 (or its very economical GPL variant). The 1.3 TCe 140 will delight those looking for more dynamism. E-Tech versions before 2022 should be approached with caution (demand a clear history and software updates), while diesel is best reserved for pure highway drivers due to AdBlue system weaknesses.
