The Renault Clio V (fifth generation) is based on the modular CMF-B platform. While its exterior design evolved subtly compared to the Clio IV, the interior marks a true revolution: foamed materials, meticulous finish, soundproofing worthy of the segment above, and integration of the EasyLink (then OpenR Link) multimedia system. Launched in 2019, it received a major facelift in 2023 (Phase 2), introducing a new, more aggressive front end, new light signatures, and the Esprit Alpine trim replacing the R.S. Line. In terms of reliability, the Clio V is an excellent student that learned from past mistakes (abandoning the fragile 1.2 TCe in favor of the robust 1.3 TCe developed with Mercedes). It stands out as one of the undisputed benchmarks in the B-segment.
The Renault Clio V is a highly recommendable purchase. It has successfully corrected the finish defects of the Clio IV while adopting gasoline (TCe) engines that are finally reliable and powerful. The smart choice: The 1.0 TCe 100 GPL is the king of savings, offering a Crit'Air 1 sticker and low-cost fuel. For the open road: The 1.3 TCe 140 is a delight in terms of driving pleasure and reliability. For the city: The 1.6 E-Tech is excellent, but prioritize a model from after 2021 to avoid early software issues. To avoid: The 1.5 Blue dCi versions if you don't exclusively drive on highways, otherwise you risk heavy bills related to AdBlue and the DPF.
