🎯 Verdict

The Renault Clio III is an excellent versatile city car, provided you choose the right engine. In petrol, it is highly recommendable. The 1.2 16v, 1.2 TCe, and 1.4/1.6 16v units are proven engines that, with classic maintenance (timing belt, coils), will take you very far. The rare 2.0 140hp chain-driven engine is a gem of reliability. Prioritize a Phase 2 (after 2009) to benefit from more reliable electronics and a finish that ages slightly better. Absolutely avoid 1.5 dCi diesels from before 2009 without a clear history (risk of engine or injection failure). In petrol, it's a smart, economical, and very safe purchase.
