The first-generation Renault Arkana is an SUV coupé with a major industrial peculiarity: it exists in two distinct technical forms. Initially launched in 2019 in Russia and CIS countries, it is based on the B0+ platform (that of the Dacia Duster), prioritizing robustness and reduced costs. In 2021, Renault launched the European version (and South Korean version under the name Renault Samsung XM3), this time based on the modern CMF-B platform (Clio V, Captur II). This European version benefits from electrified powertrains (Mild-Hybrid and Full Hybrid E-Tech), a more upscale interior, and advanced driving aids. A facelift occurred in mid-2023, introducing the new 'Nouvel'R' logo, a redesigned grille, and the high-end 'Esprit Alpine' trim. Overall, the European Arkana is a commercial success
The Renault Arkana is a very relevant choice for those looking for the SUV Coupé look without sacrificing interior space. However, the choice of engine is crucial. We strongly recommend the 1.3 TCe Mild-Hybrid (140 or 160 hp) versions, which excel in reliability, driving pleasure, and versatility. The 1.6 E-Tech 145 version, although very fuel-efficient in the city, suffers from an overly capricious dog-clutch transmission and erratic electronic reliability that tarnish the ownership experience. If you opt for a used E-Tech, prioritize a recent model (post-2023) benefiting from an extended manufacturer's warranty and a clear service history within the Renault network.
