Porsche Macan I facelift (95B) (2018 – 2023)

Reliability score : 8.8/10

The Porsche Macan I (type 95B) received its first major facelift at the end of 2018 (often called Mk2 or Facelift 1), followed by a second update in 2021 (Facelift 2). This facelift marks a major turning point: the definitive abandonment of diesel engines in favor of a 100% gasoline lineup, in response to market evolution. Based on the MLB Evo platform (shared with the Audi Q5), the Macan remains the absolute benchmark in its segment for driving dynamics. Build quality is exceptional and overall reliability is very satisfactory, as the early flaws of phase 1 (notably the fragile transfer case) have been corrected or largely mitigated in this generation.

🎯 Verdict

The facelifted Porsche Macan (2018-2023) is a highly recommendable purchase. By abandoning diesel and correcting the early flaws of phase 1 (notably the transfer case), Porsche has made its compact SUV extremely reliable. ADAC and TÜV data confirm that it ranks among the best in its class. The 2.0 TFSI engine is a rational and very robust choice (despite a water pump to monitor), while the V6s (S, GTS, Turbo) offer sports car performance. However, the purchase must be made with full awareness: maintenance, insurance, and consumable costs (tires, brakes) are worthy of the Porsche crest. Favor a model with a clear history and a Porsche Approved warranty if possible.
