Porsche Macan I facelift (95B) (2018 – 2023)

Reliability score : 8.4/10

The Porsche Macan I (type 95B) received a major facelift (Phase 2) in 2018, followed by a technical update (Phase 3) in 2021. Caution regarding Diesel: Porsche officially abandoned diesel engines in February 2018. Consequently, the facelifted Macan (2018-2023) was never sold as a new diesel. The 3.0 V6 TDI engine (Macan S Diesel) is only available on Phase 1 (2014-early 2018). Upon request, this sheet covers this diesel engine in detail (as a transitional used model), while detailing the petrol engines that make up the entirety of the facelifted range. The Macan remains the dynamic benchmark in its segment, sharing its platform (MLB Evo) with the Audi Q5, but with chassis tuning and a PDK gearbox specific to Porsche.

🎯 Verdict

The facelifted Porsche Macan (2018-2023) is an excellent choice, displaying a very reassuring reliability score (What Car? 4/5, ADAC very positive). If you absolutely want a Diesel, you will have to turn to Phase 1 (2014-2018): the 3.0 V6 TDI is high-performing but requires rigorous inspection (oil leaks, Dieselgate history). For the facelifted model, the 2.0 TFSI is an excellent daily compromise (despite a water pump to watch), while the 2.9 and 3.0 TFSI V6s offer the authentic Porsche experience with great robustness. Buying is highly recommended, provided you demand a 100% clear maintenance logbook, particularly for the PDK gearbox and the transfer case.
