Reliability score : 5.8/10

The Peugeot 5008 II (P87) represents a radical and highly successful shift from a traditional MPV (first generation) to a sleek, 7-seater mid-size crossover SUV. Sharing the EMP2 platform with the acclaimed 3008 II, it features an extended wheelbase (+16.5 cm) to accommodate a third row of seats and a massive boot. It received a major facelift in late 2020, updating the front fascia and infotainment. 🎯 Verdict

The Peugeot 5008 II is a brilliant family SUV on paper, offering unmatched interior modularity and driving dynamics in its class. However, buying one on the used market is a minefield. If you are looking for a diesel, the 2.0 BlueHDi (150 or 180 hp) is by far the best choice; the engine block is indestructible, though you must budget for a potential AdBlue tank replacement. Avoid the 1.5 BlueHDi unless you have absolute proof that the 8mm camshaft chain update has been installed. Avoid the 1.2 PureTech petrol entirely. If you want petrol, look for the newer 1.2 Hybrid 136 MHEV or the 1.6 PureTech 180. Negotiate hard on any diesel model showing AdBlue errors.
