Reliability score : 7.2/10

The Peugeot 308 Generation III (Internal codes: P51 for hatchback, P52 for SW estate) represents a major upmarket shift for the French manufacturer. Introduced in 2021, it was the first model to feature Peugeot's new shield logo. Built on the heavily updated EMP2 V3 platform, it boasts a striking, aggressive design, a highly modernized 'i-Cockpit' interior with premium materials, and the new 'i-Connect Advanced' infotainment system. 🎯 Verdict

The Peugeot 308 III is undeniably one of the most attractive and premium-feeling hatchbacks in its class. However, buying one requires careful powertrain selection. Avoid the standard 1.2 PureTech (110/130 hp) unless it has a flawless, documented service history with frequent oil changes, due to the wet timing belt design. Negotiate on the 1.5 BlueHDi, ensuring the camshaft chain has been upgraded to 8mm and the AdBlue system is functioning perfectly. Buy the newer 1.2 Hybrid 136 (MHEV) which features a much more reliable timing chain, or the 1.6 PHEV models which offer a solid engine and great efficiency, provided the software is fully up to date.
