Peugeot 206+ I (2A/C) (2009 – 2013)

Reliability score : 8.3/10

The Peugeot 206+ (generation I, type 2A/C) is the result of Peugeot's pragmatic strategy: extending the life of the legendary 206 by grafting on a front end and dashboard inspired by the 207. Sold as the 206+ in Europe, it was also marketed as the '207 Compact' in South America and '207i' in Iran. Based on a platform proven since 1998, it benefits from remarkable reliability, as the initial youth defects of the original 206 have been eradicated. It's an early 'low-cost' city car, ideal for small budgets, offering an excellent comfort/road holding compromise, although its sound insulation and passive safety betray its design age.

🎯 Verdict

The Peugeot 206+ is an extremely rational used car choice. By targeting the 1.4 HDi engine, you get a perfect transition vehicle or first car for a young driver: it's cheap to insure, consumes very little, and its mechanics are largely reliable. The only truly expensive point of vigilance is the rear axle, a chronic ailment of the 206 family. If you find a model with a healthy (or already replaced) rear axle and sealed injector seals, it's a highly recommended purchase for tight budgets.
