The second-generation Peugeot 2008 (codename P24) marks a complete break from its predecessor. Gone is the raised estate, it adopts a true muscular and aggressive urban SUV (B-SUV) silhouette, modeled on the success of the 3008. Based on the Stellantis group's modular CMP/e-CMP platform, it offers increased interior space and a spectacular interior (i-Cockpit 3D). Although the market is massively shifting towards petrol and electric, the 2008 II has retained a very relevant diesel offering (1.5 BlueHDi) for high-mileage drivers, providing remarkable fuel efficiency on motorways. The 2023 facelift modernized the front end (new three-claw light signature) and introduced new powertrains (MHEV 136 hp and electric 156 hp), while keeping diesel in the catalog for certain markets. Overall design
The Peugeot 2008 II is an SUV full of dynamic and aesthetic qualities, but its internal combustion reliability record demands great caution. If you are looking for a Diesel (1.5 BlueHDi): it is an excellent long-distance runner, but it is imperative to prioritize a model produced after spring 2023 (equipped with the 8 mm camshaft chain) or a used model whose housing/chain has already been replaced with the new reference, with supporting invoices. Avoid diesel models used exclusively in the city (DPF clogging and AdBlue crystallization guaranteed). For petrol, avoid classic PureTech engines and aim for the new 1.2 Hybrid 136 hp with a timing chain, or turn to the electric (e-2008) which proves to be the most reliable version in the range.
