Opel Zafira C Tourer (2011 – 2019)

Reliability score : 6.5/10

Opel Zafira C Tourer (2011-2019) The third-generation Opel Zafira, marketed as the 'Zafira Tourer' until its 2016 facelift, represented a significant upmarket shift for Opel's compact MPV segment. Riding on the GM Delta II platform (shared with the Astra J), it introduced a more premium interior, advanced adaptive chassis control (FlexRide), and the highly versatile Flex7 seating system. Facelift (2016): The mid-cycle refresh dropped the distinctive 'boomerang' headlights in favor of a more conservative, Astra K-inspired front fascia. The 'Tourer' suffix was dropped in many markets. Inside, the button-heavy dashboard was replaced by a cleaner layout featuring the updated IntelliLink touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 🎯 Verdict

The Opel Zafira C Tourer is a highly practical, comfortable, and well-engineered MPV that suffers from a few specific, well-documented mechanical flaws. If you are looking for a petrol version, the 1.4 Turbo (140 PS) is the safest and most balanced choice. While it has minor issues (PCV valve, coolant leaks), they are inexpensive to fix compared to the catastrophic failures seen in other engines. However, you must thoroughly check the M32 manual gearbox for whining noises. Avoid the 1.6 SIDI Turbo unless you have absolute proof that it has been serviced exclusively with Dexos 1 Gen 2 oil since new. For diesel buyers, the post-2015 2.0 CDTI (170 PS) is excellent, but avoid the 1.6 CDTI due to its expensive timing chain issues.
