Opel Mokka B B (2020 – 2025)

Reliability score : 5.8/10

The second-generation Opel Mokka (Mokka B) marks a complete break with its predecessor. Gone is the General Motors era; this model is based on the Stellantis group's modular CMP (Common Modular Platform) platform, shared with the Peugeot 2008 and DS 3 Crossback. It inaugurates the brand's new stylistic language with the "Opel Vizor" grille and the "Pure Panel" digital dashboard. Shorter, lighter, and more dynamic than the Mokka X, it sacrifices some interior space for style. Although demand has strongly shifted towards gasoline and electric, the Mokka B was offered with the 1.5 Diesel engine (derived from the 1.5 BlueHDi PSA), a frugal powertrain that requires particular attention on the used market due to known design weaknesses in this generation of Stellantis engines.

🎯 Verdict

The Opel Mokka B is a city SUV with a striking style, but its Stellantis underpinnings demand great caution on the used market. If you are specifically targeting the 1.5 Diesel, it is imperative to prioritize a model whose timing (camshaft chain) has been updated with the 8 mm kit, or a very recent model (post-2023). The AdBlue system remains a sword of Damocles. Avoid classic 1.2 Turbo gasoline versions (wet belt) unless they have an impeccable service history. The most recommendable versions are the recent mild-hybrid version (with chain) or the electric one, if suitable for your use.
