The second-generation Opel Mokka (Mokka B) marks a complete break from its predecessor. The General Motors era is over; this model is based on the Stellantis group's CMP/e-CMP platform (shared with the Peugeot 2008 and DS 3 Crossback). It inaugurates the brand's new design language, the 'Opel Vizor', and stands out with a more compact size (-12.5 cm compared to the Mokka X), reduced weight, and a multi-energy offering (petrol, diesel, electric, then micro-hybrid). While its bold design and dynamic road handling are appealing, its rear passenger space and boot volume are lacking. In terms of reliability, the record is highly mixed: the electric versions are generally reliable, while the combustion engines (from the former PSA group) suffer from major and well-documented design flaws. The Opel Mokka B is an urban SUV with a striking style that has successfully restored a strong identity to the brand. However, buying it used requires extreme caution. We strongly advise against the non-hybridized 1.2 Turbo petrol versions (100 and 130 hp), unless the timing belt has been replaced very recently and the maintenance history is flawless (manufacturer network). The 1.5 diesel should be reserved for high mileage drivers, keeping in mind the frailties of the AdBlue system. The real good choice lies in the electric versions (Mokka-e / Electric), which are very reliable and suited to the vehicle's urban vocation, or in the brand new 1.2 Turbo Hybrid 136 hp (2024) version which finally corrects the timing issue by switching to a chain.
