Nissan Rogue II (T32) (2014 – 2020)

Reliability score : 6.2/10

The second-generation Nissan Rogue (code T32) is a compact SUV that has enjoyed immense commercial success, becoming the brand's best-seller in North America. It is the technical twin of the Nissan X-Trail sold in Europe and Asia. While it shines with its interior space, comfort, practicality (7-seat option on certain years), and safety technologies, its reliability record is heavily marred by its continuously variable transmission (CVT) supplied by Jatco. A facelift was introduced for the 2017 model year, bringing aesthetic improvements, better soundproofing, and the introduction of a hybrid version (withdrawn in 2019).

🎯 Verdict

The Nissan Rogue T32 is a paradoxical vehicle. Its 2.5L engine is a model of longevity, and its family qualities are undeniable. However, the Jatco CVT transmission is a real sword of Damocles that drags down its reliability record, particularly on the 2014 to 2016 years (which also suffer from air conditioning problems). If you are considering a purchase, absolutely favor a facelifted model (2017 and newer), demand a clear history of CVT gearbox oil changes, or better yet, look for an example whose gearbox has already been replaced under warranty. Without these precautions, the financial risk is too high.
