If you opt for the gasoline engines (TB45E or the incredible TB48DE), you are buying one of the most reliable vehicles ever built, capable of handling astronomical mileages with minimal maintenance. The tradeoff is a colossal fuel budget. The diesel versions require more discernment: the legendary TD42 is a safe investment, while the 3.0L ZD30 from the 2000-2006 years should be absolutely avoided unless it has been heavily modified for reliability. For daily road use, its rustic behavior makes it obsolete, but for raids, off-roading, or long-distance travel, it is a masterful choice.
