Nissan Navara IV (D23) (2015 – 2025)

Reliability score : 8.3/10

The fourth-generation Nissan Navara (D23 / NP300) marks a turning point in the pick-up segment by introducing (on Double Cab versions) a multi-link rear suspension with coil springs, offering ride comfort close to that of an SUV while maintaining a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes. It served as the technical basis for the Renault Alaskan and the Mercedes-Benz Classe X. Robust and versatile, it corrected the serious chassis problems of the previous generation (D40). A major technical update in 2019 brought rear disc brakes, reinforced suspension, and engines updated to Euro 6d-Temp standards. Overall rating: An excellent comfort/utility compromise, penalized in Europe by the constraints of emission control systems (AdBlue/FAP) in urban use.

🎯 Verdict

The Nissan Navara D23 is an excellent choice in the mid-size pick-up category. It has managed to erase the bad reputation of its predecessor (D40) regarding chassis fragility. Its 2.3 dCi engine (of Renault origin) is mechanically very solid, although the emission control peripherals require regular highway trips to avoid costly breakdowns (FAP/AdBlue). Strongly favor facelifted models from late 2019 onwards: they benefit from rear disc brakes, a corrected rear suspension to better support loads, and a modernized multimedia system.
