Reliability score : 8.2/10

Mitsubishi Outlander IV (2021-2025): The revolution by the Alliance The fourth generation of the Mitsubishi Outlander marks a total break with its predecessors. Based on the CMF-CD platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance (shared with the Nissan X-Trail and the Rogue), it makes a spectacular leap in terms of perceived quality, interior finish, and onboard technologies. Important note regarding Diesel: Although this sheet initially targets diesel, it is imperative to specify as an expert that Mitsubishi has definitively abandoned diesel engines (DI-D) on this 4th generation, including in Europe. 🎯 Verdict

Expert verdict The 4th generation Mitsubishi Outlander is a metamorphosed vehicle. The contribution of the Alliance with Nissan has allowed it to catch up in terms of technology and finish. The absence of a diesel engine is an assumed strategic choice, compensated by a plug-in hybrid system (PHEV) among the most mature and efficient on the market. If you were looking for a diesel to tow heavy loads (horse trailers, large caravans) or drive 40,000 km on the highway per year, the Outlander IV is no longer the ideal candidate (turn to a Mazda CX-60 diesel or a Kia Sorento). On the other hand, for versatile family use with the possibility of charging daily, the PHEV version is an excellent choice, mechanically very reliable. The only real pitfalls of this model are in the onboard electronics (multimedia system), which required several corrective recalls. Make sure the coveted model has received all its updates.
