MINI Countryman II (F60) (2017 – 2024)

Reliability score : 8.5/10

The second-generation MINI Countryman (F60) marks the age of maturity for the British SUV. Based on BMW Group's modular UKL2 platform (shared with the BMW X1 F48), it grows considerably (+20 cm) to become a true family vehicle. Gone are the creaky plastics of the R60 generation: the finish makes a spectacular leap forward, worthy of the premium segment. Although demand for diesel has fallen in favor of plug-in hybrid (Cooper SE), the diesel engines (from BMW's modular B37/B47 family) are of remarkable reliability and represent the most pragmatic choice for high-mileage drivers, given the vehicle's high weight (often over 1.5 tons). The model benefited from a facelift (LCI) in mid-2020, bringing 'Union Jack' lights, a digital instrument cluster, and infotainment updates.

🎯 Verdict

The MINI Countryman F60 is an excellent premium compact SUV. By specifically targeting diesel engines, it is an extremely relevant choice. The 2.0L engine (Cooper D 150 hp and Cooper SD 190 hp) is one of the most reliable diesel engines of its generation, offering perfect torque to move the vehicle's significant mass while consuming little. Buying Tip: Opt for a Cooper D or SD from 2018 onwards, ensuring that the EGR cooler recall campaign has been carried out by the BMW/MINI network. Avoid diesels that have only been driven in the city (risk of DPF clogging). If you find a model with clear maintenance history and a drained automatic gearbox, you can go for it with your eyes closed to pass the 250,000 km mark without major issues.
