MINI Clubman II (F54) (2015 – 2024)

Reliability score : 8.5/10

The MINI Clubman II (F54) represents a significant shift from its predecessor (R55). Moving to the BMW Group's UKL2 platform (shared with the BMW X1 and 1 Series), it transitioned from a quirky stretched supermini into a premium C-segment compact estate. It retains the signature 'barn doors' at the rear but adopts a conventional four-door layout for passengers. The build quality, refinement, and ride comfort saw a massive leap forward. A mid-cycle facelift (LCI) was introduced in 2019, bringing updated tech, Union Jack taillights, and revised powertrains. This guide focuses heavily on the diesel variants (One D, Cooper D, Cooper SD) powered by the robust B37 and B47 engines, which are excellent for high-mileage drivers, while also covering the petrol lineup for complete context.

🎯 Verdict

The MINI Clubman F54 is a highly accomplished premium compact estate. If you are looking at the diesel variants, you are in luck: the B47 engine (Cooper D and Cooper SD) is one of the best 2.0-liter diesels on the market, offering stellar reliability, great fuel economy, and strong performance. The older timing chain nightmares of the N47 are gone. However, you must ensure the EGR cooler recall has been completed, and you should avoid the diesel if your driving consists solely of short urban trips (to save the DPF). The Cooper D is the absolute sweet spot of the range. For petrol buyers, the Cooper S is fantastic but keep an eye on those engine mounts.
