MINI Clubman II (F54) (2015 – 2024)

Reliability score : 8.5/10

The second-generation MINI Clubman (F54) marks a radical turning point for the model. Gone is the positioning of an elongated city car with its asymmetrical side door (R55): the F54 is based on BMW Group's modular UKL2 platform (shared with the BMW X1 F48 and 1 Series F40) and enters the premium compact segment (C-segment). It retains its iconic Split Doors at the rear but now offers 4 real side doors. In terms of reliability, this generation is an excellent surprise. It abandons the notorious 'Prince' (THP) engines and N47 diesels in favor of BMW's modular 'B' engine family (B37/B47 for diesel, B38/B48 for petrol). The level of finish takes a spectacular leap forward. A facelift (LCI) occurred in 2019, bringing 'Union Jack' taillights, new dual-clutch transmissions (DCT) for petrol models

🎯 Verdict

The MINI Clubman F54 is a mature vehicle. By abandoning the capricious engines of the PSA/BMW era and adopting 100% BMW blocks (B-series), it offers remarkable reliability. Diesel Focus : The Cooper D (150 hp) and Cooper SD (190 hp) versions are excellent mile-eaters. The B47 engine is extremely robust, provided that the EGR cooler recall campaign has been carried out. Avoid diesel if you primarily drive in the city (inevitable DPF/EGR clogging). For mixed use, the Cooper (136 hp) and Cooper S (192 hp) petrol models are preferable. In all cases, prioritize a model with a clear service history within the official network or at an independent BMW/MINI specialist.
