MG ZS II (2024 – Présent)

Reliability score : 8.2/10

The second-generation MG ZS (introduced in late 2024 for the 2025 model year) represents a massive leap forward for SAIC Motor's B-SUV. Adopting the new corporate design language seen on the MG3 and MG HS, it offers a significantly upgraded interior, better ergonomics, and advanced technology. While Europe primarily receives the highly anticipated 'Hybrid+' (HEV) powertrain to compete with the Renault Captur and Toyota Yaris Cross, traditional pure petrol (ICE) engines remain a cornerstone for markets like Australia, the Middle East, and parts of Asia. Note: As this is a brand-new generation, long-term reliability data is currently [DONNÉES INSUFFISANTES]. Assessments are based on the mechanical lineage of SAIC's powertrains and early feedback from the closely related MG3.

🎯 Verdict

The Generation II MG ZS is a highly compelling package that fixes almost all the aesthetic and ergonomic shortcomings of its predecessor. If you are targeting the pure petrol versions, the 1.5L naturally aspirated engine is a safe, reliable, but uninspiring choice best suited for city driving. The 1.5L Turbo (where available) is much better suited for all-round use but requires careful maintenance of its DCT gearbox. The real star is the new Hybrid+, which offers unbeatable value and performance, though early adopters act somewhat as beta-testers for its long-term software and battery reliability. Thanks to MG's long warranty, it remains a smart buy, but expect some early software niggles.
