MG ZS II (2024 – Présent)

Reliability score : 7.8/10

The second-generation MG ZS, unveiled in late 2024 for the 2025 model year, marks a complete break from its predecessor. Gone is the purely 'low-cost' positioning: this new B-SUV adopts the brand's new stylistic language (inspired by the MG3 and MG HS), a significantly improved interior finish, and modernized onboard technologies. The big news is the introduction of the non-rechargeable Hybrid+ (HEV) powertrain with 196 hp, shared with the MG3 city car, which allows it to directly compete with the Dacia Duster Hybrid and Toyota Yaris Cross. Although the model is very recent, the 7-year manufacturer warranty is reassuring, even if long-term data on electronic and hybrid reliability is still non-existent.

🎯 Verdict

The second-generation MG ZS is a formidable offering in the B-SUV market. By abandoning its 'low-cost' image for a highly technological 'value-for-money' approach, it makes a strong impact, particularly with its 196 hp Hybrid+ powertrain. From a reliability standpoint, buying a model fresh out of the factory always carries a risk (mainly software bugs or early production defects on the hybrid transmission). However, the 7-year warranty largely covers these risks. It is a rational and recommendable purchase, provided one accepts an often frustrating all-touch ergonomics and intrusive driving aids.
