MG ZS I facelift (essence) (2021 – 2024)

Reliability score : 8.0/10

The MG ZS Phase 2 (Facelift), produced by the Chinese giant SAIC Motor, has established itself as one of the most competitive urban SUVs (B-segment) on the market. While its electric version (EV) has garnered much attention, the internal combustion (petrol) versions offer a formidable alternative to segment leaders thanks to an unbeatable price/equipment ratio and a reassuring 7-year or 150,000 km manufacturer's warranty. The 2020/2021 facelift brought a modernized front end (hexagonal grille, LED headlights), a redesigned dashboard with soft-touch materials, and a new 10.1-inch touchscreen. Although it doesn't excel in dynamism or engine fuel efficiency, it represents a rational purchase par excellence. Overall design score: 7.5/10.

🎯 Verdict

The MG ZS internal combustion (Facelift) is the pragmatic choice par excellence. It is not bought for driving pleasure, but for its unbeatable quality/price/space ratio, secured by a 7-year warranty. Which engine to choose? If you drive mainly in the city or suburbs and are looking for absolute reliability at low cost, the 1.5 VTi-Tech is indestructible, albeit extremely placid. If you drive on roads or motorways, the 1.0 T-GDI is mandatory for safety reasons (overtaking), but expect disappointing fuel consumption (often above 7.5 L/100 km). Buying a recent used model is very relevant, provided the service book is meticulously stamped by the network to preserve the warranty.
