Mercedes EQS I (V297) (2021 – 2024)

Reliability score : 8.3/10

The EQS (code name V297) is the 100% electric flagship of Mercedes-Benz, the zero-emission equivalent of the S-Class. Based on the dedicated EVA2 platform, it stands out with its 'One-Bow' design dictated by aerodynamics, giving it a record drag coefficient (Cx) of 0.20. Inside, it introduces the impressive (and optional) MBUX Hyperscreen, a glass panel covering the entire dashboard. Although the mechanical reliability of the electric motors is excellent, this ultra-technological model is prone to software bugs and a dizzying depreciation on the used market. Overall design rating: 8.5/10 - An impressive technological showcase, but its software complexity requires rigorous monitoring.

✅ Strengths

⚠️ Weaknesses

🎯 Verdict

The EQS is an engineering feat focused on absolute comfort and aerodynamic efficiency. Mechanically, the electric motors and batteries prove to be very reliable. However, its Achilles heel lies in its software complexity (MBUX bugs) and brutal financial depreciation. It is strongly advised against buying it new. Used, it is an exceptional deal for anyone looking for an ultra-luxury electric cruiser at a fraction of its original price. Favor the 450+ version for its unbeatable range and greater simplicity (RWD).
