🎯 Verdict

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class W177 is a technological tour de force in the compact segment, offering unparalleled infotainment and a true premium feel. However, its reliability record is mixed. The interior is plagued by annoying rattles that detract from the luxury experience. Mechanically, the 1.33L petrol (M282) and the diesel engines are solid and highly recommended. Conversely, early models with the 2.0L petrol engine (M260) should be approached with extreme caution due to known, expensive cylinder head failures. If buying used, aim for a post-2020 model or ensure the M260 engine has already been repaired. The 2023+ facelift models are the most refined and reliable of the generation.
