The fourth-generation Mazda MX-5 (ND) marks a masterful return to its roots for the world's best-selling roadster. Shorter, lower, and lightened by approximately 100 kg compared to the previous generation (NC), it reconnects with the Jinba Ittai philosophy (the oneness of horse and rider). The Mazda MX-5 ND is a true engineering masterpiece and one of the most reliable sports cars on the used market. If your budget allows, the 2.0L ND2 version (184 hp, from late 2018 onwards) is the ultimate choice: it corrects the gearbox weaknesses of the ND1 while offering an engine with a fierce character. However, the 1.5L (131/132 hp) should certainly not be underestimated: it is indestructible, lighter at the front, and offers immense pleasure at legal speeds. The only version requiring caution is the 2.0L ND1 (160 hp) from 2015-2016 if it has been used on track, due to the recognized fragility of its manual gearbox. In any case, it is a highly recommended enthusiast purchase.
